She has been employed with Zakłady Ceramiczne “BOLESŁAWIEC” since 1997, working as a decoration designer in the Design Department for 12 years.

During this period, I made many decorations with varying degrees of difficulty – from simple ones, openwork, drawing on the tradition of Bolesławiec ceramics, to more labour-intensive with many colours and stamps. I draw inspiration from the world of nature. In my decorations I often use plant and floral motifs. I really like to paint large, vivid flowers and experiment by combining different colours, hues and techniques. My decorations are characterized by vivid, intense colours that are shown in compositions with flowers, as well as in decorations with fruit which I observe in our Polish gardens and orchards.

She has been employed with Zakłady Ceramiczne “BOLESŁAWIEC” since 1994. She has worked as a designer in the Design Department since 2012.

In my decorations, you will find plant-shaped, floral and geometric motifs. I draw my ideas from the surrounding world, but I also use my imagination. I design flower compositions that are rich in colour and form, and are inspired by Polish vegetation, but also purely geometric and even minimalist decorations.

My decorations are characterized by a high degree of precision. I often use tiny, meticulously made geometric and plant-shaped/floral stamps. I like to use an interesting arrangement of elements of composition, which often extend over a selected fragment of the dish, rather than over the whole product. I look for ideas in the world of nature, but I also use my imagination. In my works, you can find plants that are typical for Polish nature and landscape, such as violets, poppy flowers, cornflowers or ears of corn, but also exotic plants, e.g. orchids.

By decorating ceramics, I decorate life.

I look for ideas in nature. In my decorations one can mainly find painterly and delicate floral elements. They are painted with brush and a special “club”. My compositions are also characterized by cheerful, intense colours and the use of small stamps. I am constantly looking for interesting solutions for composition and colours.

Painting gives me joy.

I look for inspiration primarily in my imagination.

I really like geometric, colourful decorations that are reminiscent in their character of folk or Moroccan ornaments. I also like decorations made with zigzags and patterns that resemble colourful fabrics. In my decorations, I draw on the tradition of Bolesławiec ceramics but try to update them with a more modern look. I also design floral decorations.

My work is my passion.

I definitely prefer simple and minimalist decorations with bright and soft colours. I appreciate traditional Bolesławiec ceramics and I am eager to draw on its heritage, but floral and plant-shaped motifs can also amaze me. I look for inspiration in my everyday life and the world around me. For example, I created a design that imitates a napkin or a decoration that celebrates the 100th anniversary of Poland regaining its independence with references to the national Polish flag.

I have been employed with Zakłady Ceramiczne “BOLESŁAWIEC” Sp. z o.o. since 2004. I began my career as a shape and decoration designer. Between 2008 and 2017, I was involved in marketing our ceramic pottery.

In 2018, I returned to designing. One of my tableware series – “Boats” – is reminiscent of slender Far Eastern boats. Our tableware items have oblong shapes and gentle curves that evoke a sense of movement.

“I think that a design must be “timeless” and the artist should look for optimal solutions that combine the beauty of the dish with its function. Ceramics is a semi-precious stone, which should not be framed in silver or gold, but should be neatly cut instead so that it shines with its own light.”

JANINA BANY-KOZŁOWSKA is a graduate from the PWSSP University (currently ASP) in Wrocław, where in 1973 she obtained a diploma at the Faculty of Ceramics and Glass Design as a member of Irena Lipska-Zworska’s Unique Ceramics Workshop and Rufin Kominek’s Functional Ceramics Workshop. In March 1974, she was employed as an artistic manager and designer at Bolesławieckie Zakłady Ceramiczne Przemysłu Terenowego (currently Zakłady Ceramiczne “BOLESŁAWIEC” Sp. z o.o.). From 1987 onwards, she has been the chief designer. She designed the company’s logo, which has been in use since the 1990s, and most of our patterns (approximately 1,600) that are used in mass production. She designs functional ceramics and ceramic sculptures.

Having graduated in ceramics design from the PWSSP University (currently ASP) in 1985, I was employed with Zakłady Ceramiczne “BOLESŁAWIEC” Sp. z o.o. and worked there on and off for over twenty years until 2018.

During this period I designed and implemented over three hundred utility models. The achievements include the so-called utility stoneware, designed for plant 2, such as lard pots (2004 Best in Poland award) cabbage pickling pots, plant pots (2004 Good Design, 2004 IWP Design of the Year Nomination and 2004 President’s Award, 2004 Visitors’ Choice at POLAGRA fair) as well as garden flower cases.

Ceramics is my life.

She has been employed with Zakłady Ceramiczne “BOLESŁAWIEC” since 1977, working in the Design Department since its beginning. She is the Manager of the Design Department and the author of many decorations.

My first personal patterns, created to special orders and for special occasions, were made with templates combined with stamped motifs.

She was employed with Zakłady Ceramiczne “BOLESŁAWIEC” since 2000, working as a designer in the Design Department since 2012.

The decorations she designed were inspired by flowers and vegetation which she loved. In her decorations you can find flowers and plants that she admired every day in meadows as well as in her own garden. Each decoration she invented was well thought out from the very beginning, at least as if she would arrange a bouquet of flowers. She was looking for ever more new ways of composing, laying her decorations out on the plane. She was bored with typical solutions and always tried to make sure her decoration brought something innovative and fresh. She combined geometric and floral elements. She was also familiar with minimalist and monochromatic decorations.

Her designs were characterized by great diversity.
